Celebrating Dog Days of Summer

We spent a wonderful day at the Kenmore/Subaru Dog Days of Summer Event - meeting new people and dogs on a gorgeous summer day. New people signed up for our popular S.T.A.R. Puppy Classes, some getting their puppies very soon, some with young pups.

Many thanks to our obedience students for their help in setting up and for those that stopped in to say “hi” and to support us.

The day was full of sunshine, a light breeze (thankfully), music, close to 100 vendor booths, Agility and Barn Hunt demonstrations, food trucks and more.

Congratulations- RACH for Thorin!

We are thrilled to share that Alexandra Hart and “Thorin” have achieved an incredible accomplishment!

Pending the recalculations per the AKC Rally regulations update and AKC confirmation, Thorin should be the first Rhodesian Ridgeback to earn the RACH (pron. "rock") Rally Championship prefix title!!

[The RACH title under updated regulations requires triple qualifying in the Master, Excellent B, and Advanced B classes 20 times, and earning 300 total points accumulated from these classes, of which 150 points needed to come from the Master class. Points are only earned from scores of 91 or higher, with a maximum of 10 points for a perfect score of 100.]

All the time they’ve spent training and working toward this goal has really paid off. They earned high scores and placings all the way along this journey.

Agility - Congratulations!

What a great day for 4 of our Agility students that went for their AKC ACT I and ACT II Titles today.

🐾 "Tailer" 🐾 "Moosie" 🐾 "Wyatt" 🐾 "Zazu" 🐾

From right to left:

Tailer (Jackie Kretzmon) earned two Titles: ACT I and ACT II – 4 Qualifying runs with a First Place run and 3 Second Placements for the other 3 runs.

Wyatt (Corinne Cervola) earned two Titles: ACT I and ACT II – 4 Qualifying runs; One First Place, One Second Place and 2 runs with Third Place each.

Moose (Lancy Smith) earned their ACT II Title: 2 Qualifying runs with a First Place and a Third Place. (Previously earned ACT I Title with a perfect score on both qualifying runs)

Zazu (Vanessa Lee) earned the First Leg of their ACT I Title with a Second Place.

Excited and happy for all of them. It’s a wonderful outcome for the hard work they’ve done

Our newest Success Story!

This just in from Leanne Pokigo . . .

"HEADS UP COMPETITION PEEPS. .WANT TO ATTEND AN AWESOME CLASS? !!! COMMUNICATE AND PLAY WITH BONITA HABITZRUTHER! I Have had 4 classes and my Border Collie Caid has done a complete turn around! We have learned NEW skills every week and have improved existing ones. I would recommend these classes to anyone at any level. Great learning environment and lots of FUN! I haven't been this excited about a class setting in years. YAY BONITA!"

Leanne recently started coming to our Training Facility in Hamburg, NY. She wasn't getting quite what she wanted from her Border Collie in Competition Obedience Shows. They've been doing well, just not quite what she wanted. We changed a few things to motivate Caid and we mixed up the Open Level exercises a little to makes things more interesting for him. At the recent match he was much happier and more enthusiastic. Almost a different dog!

Congratulations Thorin and Alex Hart

More letters can be added after Thorin's name. He now has his CGCA and CGCU. The majority of the testing was done in the city of Buffalo and Canal Side on an extremely windy day

S.T.A.R. Puppy Class - October 15th

Puppies are like sponges - ready to learn and absorb what you teach them. Let's get them started correctly from the beginning. You don't want to wait until problems start! This is such an important time for learning and exploring.

We start with the basics commands but also add so much more. Your pup will be climbing on small obstacles like ladders, wobbles, steps, in and out of boxes, just to start. This will help build his confidence, coordination and body awareness.

When he starts to learn that everything is not always All About Him (or Her), your home life will be so much happier. Even your young puppy can learn to relax and be calm - that makes you calmer and more relaxed, too. He needs to learn this.

All of our classes are limited in size to give you and your pup the attention we feel you both deserve. You will never find yourself lost in a class of 8+ pups.

Sign up early and SAVE. Early Bird Pricing ends September 19th. Once the class is full, registrations will close. Pre-registering is the only way to be sure you have a place in the class.

The Next Step Class-April 2, 2016

Did you take one session of Puppy Classes and stop? Maybe now you are just beginning to realize there is more to training! We have the class for you. The Next Step Class goes beyond that stage, now when your puppy can concentrate a little longer. Now, when your puppy is becoming a bit more of an independent thinker and isn't quite so eager to follow along with you.
